Definitely a morning person, Jess is our Ops Breakfast Show presenter broadcasting worldwide to the forces in Afghanistan. Iraq, Cyprus, Brunei, Germany, Gibraltar, Nairobi and the Falklands just to name a few. Jess started out in radio at Bournemouth University where she was studying journalism and joined the student radio station Nerve*. From there she presented a special breakfast show with Phill Jupitus (yes the one from Never Mind The Buzzcocks) and in her final year took the helm as the first student station manager - before that it was run by ‘grown ups’. Throughout the years she’s worked with community radio, BBC Radio Gloucestershire, BBC Introducing and finally found her perfect fit with BFBS - a place she feels at home with as many of her family have served in the forces.
From volunteering at BFBS Brize Norton, to presenting Breakfast in Blandford, being posted to Cyprus and now taking care of the Ops service, Jess has experienced much in a short space of time from how to drive a tank, to being amazed by the fast jets part of Op Shader, but most importantly reaching out and interacting with personnel and their families across the world.
If she’s not on the radio Jess is helping out with the community, reading magazines, writing (in her previous life as a print journo she interviewed Brian May, Leonard Nimoy and Don McCullin), or eating Coco Pops.
