US-Led Coalition Attacks Pro-Assad Forces In Syria

US-led coalition warplanes operating over Syria have attacked militia forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.  

The militants were moving towards a base used by Western special forces, near a key border crossing with Iraq.  

The air strike comes as President Trump prepares to begin his first official trip abroad - including to the Middle East.

US Veteran Arrested After Deadly Times Square Crash

A US military veteran has been arrested in New York after a car was driven at high speed along a pavement in Times Square, killing an 18-year-old woman. 

22 other people were injured. 

It is known that Richard Rojas, who served with the US Navy, has previous convictions for drink driving. 

The city's mayor, Bill De Blasio, said it's not believed this was an act of terrorism. 

British Troops Prepare For South Sudan Deployment

33 Field Hospital, from Portsmouth, has spent the week at the Army Medical Services Training Centre in York completing its final validation before deploying to South Sudan. 

The UK are contributing almost 400 troops to the UN mission, making it one of the country's largest current operational deployments.
